Project Overview

Dulas has worked in Yemen for over 25 years delivering our solar powered refrigerators to support the immunisation needs of the Ministry of Health.

Over the last few years we have delivered over 1000 solar refrigerators with a further 400 scheduled for delivery in early 2022.

For Yemen, the orders come at a critical time for the country, as several years of fighting has pushed its health system to the brink of collapse. The challenges posed by the ongoing conflict have led to outbreaks of cholera, the effects exacerbated by ever increasing populations in temporary refugee accommodation.

As an early pioneer of innovative solutions to tackle the complexities of delivering vaccinations in remote and war torn communities, we continue to develop new approaches to meet the last mile vaccine challenge.

Implementation

With fully trained and accredited partners around the world Dulas are able to off er in-country support to deliver, install and maintain these life-saving projects.

For one of these projects in Yemen we worked with our in-country partner ‘Power On Renewable Energy Solution Systems’ who coordinated the delivery of a number of solar direct drive combined refrigerator / freezers to health facilities located across the country.

Outcomes and Benefits

As organisations like Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and UNICEF work to vaccinate children from preventative diseases, we are proud to support their efforts by supplying WHO accredited cold chain equipment which will help to ensure the efficacy of the vaccines by keeping them at the correct temperature.
