Wales Business Awards 2024
We are delighted to share the news that Dulas has won SME Exporter of the Year Award at the Wales Business Awards. The awards ceremony took place at the Vale Hotel and Resort near Cardiff on 16th May. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening spent in great company. Dulas is known for its pioneering renewable products and services, and we felt very inspired to sit alongside other successful businesses with an entrepreneurial spirit. Naturally, being awarded Exporter of the Year was the highlight of the evening!
About the awards
Run by Chambers Wales, this is the 21st year of the Wales Business Awards, showcasing the very best that Welsh business has to offer. Hundreds of businesses of all sizes and from all sectors across the country entered to be in with a chance of winning a prestigious accolade, and 49 companies were named as finalists across 11 categories. Broadcaster Andrea Byrne was there to present the awards.
What ‘SME Exporter of the Year’ means
The ‘SME Exporter of the Year’ award won by Dulas was sponsored by the Welsh Government – it focuses on recognising and celebrating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that have achieved significant export growth in new and/or existing overseas markets. Supporting ‘exports’ is a priority for both the Welsh Government and Chambers Wales, so applications were welcomed from businesses who could demonstrate how their approach, resilience, drive and determination have led to notable export success in 2023/24.
Award presentation
The ‘SME Exporter of the Year’ award was presented to Dulas by Jeremy Miles, Minister for Economy, Energy and Welsh Language who earlier in the evening had spoken about the support available to Welsh Businesses and the need for future skills planning across all sectors in Wales.
Every year, the event chooses a charity to support, and this year, they chose 2wish Cymru. The charity provides immediate and ongoing support to families, individuals, and professionals affected by the sudden and traumatic death of a child or young adult aged 25 and under. It was inspiring to hear from CEO Rhian Mannings, who gave a powerful speech about why the charity was founded.
It was a hugely impressive evening, and it was fantastic to spend time with excellent and innovative Welsh Businesses. Well done to the shortlisted businesses, highly commended award recipients and the other category winners.
Thank you to Chambers Wales for organising this awards event, and thank you to all the sponsors – we are delighted with our Exporter of the Year Award!
