Reflections from the first major trade mission to India
Last week, Ruth Chapman, our Executive Managing Director, was invited to join the Prime Minister, 10 Downing Street, and the Department for Business and Trade on a trade delegation in Mumbai.
The delegation brought together business, cultural, academic, and political leaders from both nations – marking the largest UK government trade mission to India, and the first since the landmark UK-India trade deal was signed in July.
The trade deal will lower tariffs on British goods being imported into India, opening the door for British businesses to expand their trade with one of the world’s fastest growing economies.
Flying the flag for Dulas
Our position as a UK SME exporter to India meant that this visit has the potential to unlock new opportunities and strengthen and build-upon our long-standing relationships with governments, businesses, and our in-country partners across India.
Speaking about the delegation, Ruth said:
“It was an immense privilege to represent Dulas, a Welsh SME, on the UK trade mission to India. The visit offered a fantastic opportunity to connect with business leaders, policymakers, and innovators who share a commitment to building a more sustainable future.
There’s huge potential for collaboration between the UK and India. By combining UK expertise in clean energy systems with India’s rapid innovation and scale, we can help drive meaningful change that benefits both economies and communities.
At Dulas, we’ve seen first-hand how renewable innovation can strengthen health resilience – from our solar-powered vaccine refrigerators to off-grid energy solutions that keep essential services running. This trip has reinforced how powerful cross-border partnerships can be in tackling shared challenges and supporting sustainable growth around the world.”
During the visit, Ruth explored new opportunities for collaboration, reinforcing our commitment to a region where we’ve worked for decades with local partners to deliver solutions that strengthen healthcare resilience in the region.
This mission provided us with a fantastic platform to showcase our cold chain technology and UK-manufactured renewable solutions. We’re grateful for the government’s continued support in championing British innovation abroad and helping SMEs like Dulas expand their global impact.
