Working together to help Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital

We were recently approached by Flex, a manufacturing and supply chain solutions provider and one of our business contacts in India, who wanted to know where they could most usefully donate one of our vaccine refrigerators. We were able to put them in touch with our in-country partner SunInTown. We have worked extensively with SunInTown across India and they always go the extra mile to deliver cold chain equipment to communities that need it most. Read more

Sheshnag Chitlur, co-founder at SunInTown, suggested a charity that is close to his heart, the Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation, based in Bangalore. Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation provides affordable or free cancer treatment to cancer patients at its 480 bed hospital in the heart of Bangalore. SunInTown were happy to install the refrigerator free of charge.

The VC225ILR is our largest Hot Zone rated ‘ice-lined’ vaccine refrigerator. With 184.5 litres vaccine capacity, it is ideal for larger health facilities and is supplied with a built-in power regulator and a voltage stabiliser which protects it from power surges. It is the result of nearly 40 years’ experience gained in supplying refrigerators to the most remote corners of the earth.

“At Flex, sustainability is at the core of every aspect of what we do, and our purpose as a company is to improve people’s lives. We are firmly committed to sustainable operations, be it to reduce our environmental impact or investing in our communities. In that regard, we are glad to see the solar powered vaccine refrigerator being used to help the community”, said Mark Thomsen, Senior Project Manager at Flex.

He added, “We are thankful to Dulas and their partner SunInTown, who have generously donated their time and expertise for this worthy cause.”

Mr Chitlur commented: “I’ve seen first-hand the outstanding work undertaken at the Sri Shankara Cancer Hospitals and we were delighted to see them receive this donation and help with the installation at the same time.”

Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation provides affordable cancer treatment to communities in and around Bangalore irrespective of their religion, gender or socioeconomic status.
