Inverhaggernie intake refurbishment
Project Overview
Inverhaggernie HEP 3 km north west of Crianlarich was built with a side intake, which since construction, suffered blocking from vegetation that significantly reduced production and consumed a large number of man hours in trips to clean the intake. Dulas had previously done work for the scheme owner, upgrading the control panel by fitting a SCADA for improved monitoring, data logging, remote access/communication, installing new PLC Code and recommissioning the plant.
Implementation
Dulas was contracted to carry out the design and consenting of a new intake with AquaShear Coanda intake screens and to act as the Client’s Engineer during the construction phase. The scope of the works included the construction of a completely new intake, connection to the existing pipe, excavating the existing air valves and replacing them plus the repair of an exposed leak in the pipeline at the HPPE/ductile iron interface.
“The improved scheme is brilliant! The output of the new system is consistently high and is twice as good as the old system. It functions perfectly and I was very satisfied with the work undertaken by Dulas.”
